Deadly Wives Summary

Spoiler Alert: The wife did it!

This true crime series is all about women who murder their husbands. Lies, affairs, secret identities, greed, and just plain evil… all of the motives are covered here.

Deadly Wives Review

Lifetime produced only 1 season of this Deadly Wives in 2013. It’s a shame because I really liked this series. The dry, sarcastic sense of humor from the narrator made this one of my favorite true crime series on Hulu.

My favorite part of the series is the following quote from Episode 8. It sums up the humor of the narrator perfectly.

"And what woman wouldn't want to be intimate with him? He was 36, suffered from chronic back pain, had some big old tattoos and lived with his mother. Yes, he was quite a catch." #DeadlyWives #TVQuotes Click To Tweet

My favorite episode from the series is Episode 8: Where there’s a will, there’s a way. So, if you only check out one show, make sure to check out that one.

Deadly Wives Episode Descriptions

Season 1

Episode 1: Love Covers a Multitude of Sins

Randy and Teresa Stone seem like the perfect couple. They faithfully attend church together and own a successful local insurance agency. When Randy Stone is killed, everyone is shocked and detectives begin to unravel the unusual case of sex, lies and greed.

Episode 2: Things Aren’t Always What They Seem

There are two stories in this episode.

First, Ann Miller of Raleigh, NC seemed to have it all: a great job, a handsome husband and a beautiful baby… until her husband Eric Miller suddenly falls ill and dies.

Second, in Middlefield, OH, 40-year-old Chris Mason’s 73-year-old Jim Mason has a heart attack while swimming in the pool. But, the pool’s security cameras tell a different story.

Episode 3: Marlboro Man Murder

Elisa McNabney was living the high life in Sacramento, CA. Her husband Larry was a successful personal injury attorney who was more than happy to let his wife run his business and spend his money. Their life was perfect until he put his foot down.

Episode 4: Acid Lady

Tim and Larissa Schuster are a successful couple in Clovis, California. Larissa owns a thriving biochemistry lab, while Tim works at a hospital and manages their home and two kids. When Tim loses his job, Larissa starts to get mean.

Episode 5: Pretty Young Deadly Things

In another 2 for 1 episode, Morgan Wixon marries Kevin Mengel in West Goshen, Pennsylvania. She’s the ideal woman except for the fact that she has a huge problem telling the truth. When Kevin goes missing, it’s no shock that Morgan has all the answers.

In Waco, Texas, Darlene Gentry calls 911 when she finds her husband, Keith, shot in their bed.

Episode 6: Craven for Murder

In the all-American town of Edgewood, Kentucky, Stephen and Adele Craven fit right in. He’s a commercial airline pilot, and she’s a stay-at-home mom with two adorable kids.

Episode 7: Vanishing Acts

In the first part of this episode, an injured woman is rescued after an attack in Corbett, Oregon. Lynn Stomps tells officers about how her husband, Jerry, was robbed and kidnapped in the attack.

In the second part, a body is discovered in a suitcase on Virginia Beach. Bill McGuire is eventually identified and everyone is shocked to learn that he had left his wife, Melanie, before disappearing.

Episode 8: Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way

Part 1: Cristie finds her husband, Lee Sehorne, dead outside their home in Lithia, Florida. Considering that Lee allowed Cristie to find her happiness with other men when he wasn’t home, no one could figure out why she would have considered killing him… until she marries Jerry Bottorff.

Part 2: Raynella Leath frantically calls 911 to report that her husband has been shot. The operator tries to calm her down long enough to get details. When officers arrive on the scene, there is a body lying in the front yard; it’s Raynella, face down and motionless. When they approach her, she springs up, wailing uncontrollably. David Leath, of Tennessee is found dead in the home. Officers dig deeper to find that Raynella’s first husband, Ed Dossett also died tragically.

Episode 9: The Liars Club

Part 1: Cory Voss is robbed at an ATM in Newport News, Virginia. Did the affair that his Ukrainian wife, Catherina “Cat” Voss have with Dracula’s grandson have anything to do with it?

Part 2: Barbara Garcia of Indiana couldn’t have killed her husband, Cipriano. After all, she was 61 and had no motive since he had forgiven her for blowing their life savings in the casino.

Episode 10: Opposites Attract

Part 1: Boyle Heights, CA is known for violence and gang activity, so when Bruce Cleland is killed in a car jacking and his wife is knocked unconscious, there is no reason for police not to believe the story… or is there?

Part 2: Villa Park, Illinois is a great place to live, so when Nicole Abusharif calls 911 to report that her wife Rebecca Klein is missing, everyone is shocked.

Episode 11: Murder for Proffitt

This episode was the most difficult to watch and is very different than the others in the series. It starts out by telling of the nice, small town of Lake Jackson, Texas and then switches to the happy new family of newlyweds and new parents Omar and Flicita Attar and the story of Omar’s twin brother Danny Attar. Everything is a wonderful story and then switches over to the horrible apartment fire that killed the happy family.

The fire started in the apartment below, where Sadie Proffitt and her husband David lived.
